The Shire of Carlsby is the local branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism located in Lawrence, KS and the surrounding area. Carlsby is located within the Kingdom of Calontir (Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, and a corner of Arkansas).  

And what, pray tell, is the Society for Creative Anachronism?  We're glad you asked!  The SCA is a non-profit organization that works very hard to recreate the beauty and glory of the Middle Ages and surrounding time periods.  We like the chivalry, the pageantry, the food, the clothes, and so on.  However, the "creative" part of our name means that we don't recreate things like the Black Plague or promote unfortunate medieval concepts like social inequality.  We take the best that history has to offer and make it real.  

We do all sorts of things in our creative recreation endeavors.  We hold tournaments  in which noble fighters battle it out with rattan swords to find the best, most chivalrous warrior on the field.    Look to our News link to find the next fighter practice or event.  We also study and practice garb making, woodworking, embroidery, spinning, weaving, cooking, leathercraft, and any other medieval art or science we can find.
